My Lola and I:
The story of a grandmother and her grandson has been brewing in my mind for years. The setting and details in the book were all taken from my childhood. My late mother, Elizabeth, was the inspiration for Lola Beth. My biggest problem was illustrating it. I paint and draw but illustrating a children's book is completely different from what I do. Hiring the services of a cartoonist or illustrator for an e-book was out of the question because of the costs involved. So, I took up the challenge and struggled through the book cover plus a few interior drawings. Luckily, these did not turn out too badly. The book cover was done in oil, and the drawings in the book were in watercolor and ink. Below is the final cover:
